About Lotus Space

Hi! I’m Maureen. I am a transformational coach and facilitator.  In my spare time  I am also a  yoga enthusiast, intrepid traveller, seeker of wisdom and 'la dolce vita' (a sweet and soul filled life).  Thanks for dropping, it’s such a pleasure to have you here. On this page I talk about what drives me, my
accreditations, professional background and accreditations and the meaning behind the my symbol the lotus.
Maureen xx

My professional background

In the last 20 years or so, I have worked as a consultant, change agent and senior manager in the areas of: human resources, organisational development, change management and organisational improvement. This has meant that mostly I have worked in, or with, large organisations supporting change and transformation.  This focus has meant that, over time, I have facilitated many different development programs and coached dozens of individuals: to develop their leadership capacity, to navigate through periods of change and transition, to manage conflict, to hone their relationship skills and help them to manage difficult relationships.

My work and passion, is fuelled by my belief in the human spirit, and our potential to be innovative, creative, wise, resourceful and compassionate. And my desire to support and foster this potential in the world.

I believe that for each of us to tap into these capacities and embrace our potential requires us to embrace our humanness, our need for connection and our innate drive towards wholeness. To embrace all of these dimensions of ourselves requires us to focus on both the outer and the inner aspects of what it is to be human, and this in turn is an absolute prerequisite for us to live lives that are full, satisfying and richly rewarding.

Yet, in my corporate work. time and time again, I see people come to me, in workshops and coaching sessions, drained of energy, exhausted from the endless striving, and feeling disconnected, discouraged and dissatisfied. They have lost their zest. Often the focus in these settings lean towards a focus on external factors of performance with little attention being paid to the internal factors that drive as a human beings.

I have found that the secret to success  is  taking both these aspects of our lives into account so that we are working with the whole of our being, and this is about supporting the whole person.   Lotus Space coaching is devoted to supporting you, the whole person - the inner and out dimensions of your being, to live an unapologetic life of passion and where your individual  uniqueness can shine through.

My Symbol – The Lotus

Harmony ~ Illumination ~ Unlimited Potential

You will find I use a number of symbols over and over in my work. These icons are symbolic of the intention that is imbued in my work and  coaching services I offer through Lotus Space.

Carl Jung said that "symbols are not a sign of the ordinary; they are images of an invisible spirit and have a meaning far beyond themselves. When words are inadequate symbols provide their own language of communication".
The "Lotus" represents the intention that is instilled in my coaching services, and it is a powerful and ancient image symbolising harmony, illumination and unlimited potential.

Borne in the murkiest of ponds, the lotus still emerges pure. The lotus is a reminder that "this, too, shall pass".
The lotus flower is regarded in many different cultures as a symbol of purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth. Buddha is sometimes depicted sitting on a lotus flower, symbolising the one who overcame the pain of that which prevails in the material world and became enlightened.

In ancient Egypt the lotus was one of the most revered flowers and symbols. It represented daily rebirth and rejuvenation because it closed at night and reopened in the morning to reveal a central yellow circle with radiating petals like the rising sun. The seed of the lotus flower contains perfectly formed leaves as miniatures of what they will become when the lotus blooms.

The lotus reminds us that our challenges are fertiliser awakening our brilliance, creativity, and potential if we choose to work with them.
